My research focuses on otologic health of children with cleft palate, the microbiome, and health disparities. I am especially interested in the role breast milk plays in establishing and maintaining a microbial environment that promotes middle ear health.     I was interested in the mechanisms underlying chronic bladder pain. I examined the involvement of cytokines in bladder hypersensitivity using a variety of methods including single-fiber recordings from pelvic nerve bladder afferents, cystometrograms, recording electromyographic activity resulting from the visceromotor reflex, qRT-PCR, and histology. While conducting this research, I analyzed data using SYSTAT, SigmaPlot, and GraphPad.
