As a data scientist at Particle I combined data visualization, machine learning, and pipeline architecture to build productionized decision-making systems. Projects included Natural Language Processing to improve information retrieval, unsupervised clustering to identify higher quality market segments, and supervised learning to optimize marketing offers for customer acquisition and loyalty. My charge was to use machine learning to amplify the company’s approach to providing assurance and recovery services to some of the largest independent natural gas producers in the U.S.I partnered with our client’s DBA to extract data via SQL queries, and also relied on third-party APIs for vendor activity data. I helped to architect a project-specific database, and performed ETL to operationalize and validate the data for both analytics and machine learning processes downstream. I used a variety of Python libraries including pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, recordlinkage, and Dask to perform distributed, algorithmic, fraudulence audits of financial data.

I led Sol Systems' solar renewable energy certificate (SREC) trading team, managing two teammates. Sol Systems is an industry-leading solar energy finance start-up, and was ranked #91 fastest-growing company in the U.S. by Inc. Magazine, 2013. - Managed SREC sales of over $12 million per year, sold on behalf of 4,000 customers, and provided over 350 solar partners with regular market commentary. - Developed and launched a new service business line that secured a significant amount of new revenue. - Traded SRECs daily on the spot market, executed position trading, and structured and managed long-term purchase and sale contracts. - Modeled supply, demand, price movement and legislation by state in order to guide the company's long-term SREC portfolio strategy. - Developed Sol Systems' standard SREC pricing, and interfaced with the project finance team to give project pricing indications and portfolio advice.
