Working within the River Murray Operations Improvement team to focus on the system's critical human water needs and drought resilience.

My role as Senior Project Officer / Hydro-climate analyst for Basin Plan Review Ecohydrology in the Applied Science branch looking at the impacts of climate change on inflows in the Murray-Darling Basin and applying this information to the water policy including the Basin Plan Review 2026. On a more granular level, my role includes being coordinator for the Climate Adaptation theme for the Murray-Darling Water and Environment Research Program (MD-WERP). This theme of the program is designed to ensure future climate scenarios, inflows and demands are applied to the upcoming Basin Plan Evaluation and Review and are based on best available science through collaboration with CSIRO and Deakin University.

As Acting Assistant Director, the focus of my role for five weeks was to progress planning and expand internal consultation surrounding scientific analysis which will underpin the upcoming Basin Plan Review.

Acting as Assistant Director in the River Modernisation team. Continuing to manage the Barmah-Millewa Sediment Management project to Phase 2 completion in 2022.

My role is placed within the System Review team, whose primary objective is to provide strategic advice and improvement to the River Murray system to support and optimise day-to-day river operations. I am Project Manager for the Barmah-Millewa Sediment Management project which is assessing the origin, scale and management options of the excess sand identified within the River Murray in order to improve environmental, cultural, social and economic values in the reach. In this role I provide technical advice, coordinate external consultants and engage with a range of stakeholders including joint-venture government agencies, community groups and a diverse network of MDBA teams and resources. In addition, I have supported the development and testing of the joint government Shortfall Response Plan, developed as an emergency response framework for the inability to deliver water entitlements (a shortfall). In particular, I have coordinated two annual interjurisdictional testing exercises for the Shortfall Response Plan.

The graduate program is broken up into three rotations. My placement and project involvement was as follows:Rotation 1 - Remote Sensing and Spatial Services – I utilised publicly available satellite imagery to monitor, analysis and report on first flow events in the northern Murray-Darling Basin, and monitor the impact on Ramsar-listed wetlands in the Condamine-Balonne catchment.Rotation 2 - Groundwater Management - I contributed to numerous initiatives including assisting in the completion of the final transition period water take report and associated Basin Plan requirements, analysis of groundwater resources Basin-wide and collaboration with the Bureau of Meteorology on the alignment of water accounting terminology.Rotation 3 - System Review, River Management - I was responsible for assisting in the development and testing an emergency action plan responding to lack of access to water entitlements in the Murray River (known as a shortfall). This concentrated on communication processes and coordination between Basin jurisdictions.

I was responsible for the collection, analysis and reporting of groundwater data for the Australian mining and water sector for the purpose of compliance investigations and mining/development approval. This role has required significant independent fieldwork in rural Queensland for data collection and engagement with stakeholders.

This role was primarily focused on engaging and educating school-aged children and family groups on the geological history near Inverloch, Victoria. As presenter, I delivered tailored programs to groups of various interests and abilities with the additional intention of children and guardians leaving with a sense of custodianship for the environment and an understanding of changes to the regions past and future climate. Additional responsibilities included conducting safety briefings, administering First Aid and supervision duties.

Seasoned front of house point of sale operator for 6+ years with experience in cultivating strong customer relationships and ensuring returning clients through delivering outstanding customer service in addition to regularly fulfilling store KPI’s. During my employment I received 5 awards for achieving highest in-store selling targets and multiple excellent customer service honourable mentions including two notable acknowledgements from JB Hi-Fi head office. I personally raising a third of in-store donations for the children’s charity The Song Room in September 2018 leading us to be the highest donations contributor nationally.

As a practical teaching assistant for first year University students, I was responsible for supervising and facilitating practical Earth Science classes both on campus and in the field. Responsibilities included facilitating small group discussions and communicating key concepts.

As Staff Engagement Coordinator I was responsible for the delivery a strong academic open letter which facilitated significant changes to environment policies and initiatives at the University of Melbourne. I participated in key meetings with significant university staff members including the Chief Financial Officer, assisted in community engagement strategies and timelines, developed communication materials, organised and managed events and represented the campaign at a number of public events. Additional responsibilities included the training and management of volunteer staff.

Assisted in two major projects for the Community Safety department on the social impacts of the 2011 and 2013 Bundaberg (Queensland) floods and the development of tropical cyclone modelling for the Asia-Pacific region.
