Rising Strong

My organization took me full-time by having me do this part of the time along with being the Program Manager of P4P. Supervise all Parents for Parents (P4P) program staff and paid volunteers, including Peer Support Specialists at Rising Strong. Collecting and presenting data, scheduling staff, training on model fidelity standards, and maintaining accurate budgeting for the site. Had to take the program virtually during the pandemic. *Facilitated presentations and networked in the community to build strong relationships with key court and community partners. Networked relationships with contracted Office of Public Defense (OPD) stakeholders to serve and empower parents.*Passionately advocated that Catholic Charities add Lincoln County to their P4P contract with little funding to serve parents in the very rural neighboring county.*Created relevant and meaningful group curriculum for parents in the system, provided training and support to facilitators, and implemented peer-led groups at Rising Strong.*In this dual position, I held positions on multiple committees and traveled internationally to discuss program efficacy and strengthen the parent advocacy movement on a global scale to help create an international parent advocacy movement.

The Parents for Parents program has a three-prong approach. This is a parent-led program that educates parents on navigating the child welfare system taught by parents who have that experience. P4P provides mentoring, support for hearing, and pathways to upward mobility after your case closes.*Assisted in the development and implementation of the Spokane P4P program.*Front-line champion with parents involved in the child welfare system by offering trauma-informed support, facilitating classes, mentoring parents, providing court outreach and training new P4P Parent Allies.*Led presentation on the importance of protein for high-stress populations.*Interpreting child welfare data and protein outcomes to improve stakeholder knowledge and support for the Protein For All program pilot in Spokane.*Supporting the coordinator's efforts of a pilot program to bring a specialized Dependency 101 class and P4P support to currently incarcerated parents involved in the child welfare system.
