Currently working as a Senior Marine Wildlife Survey Consultant at APEM Ltd.In 2021 achieved a PhD from Cardiff University, investigating genetic variability and immunogenetics of two Azorean storm petrels. This was achieved through the use of PCR and DNA sequencing, to compare the genetics between the two species, more specifically looking at the Major Histocompatibility Complex.Previously completed an undergraduate degree in zoology at Cardiff University (2014), then continued to work as a Research Associate to a PhD student, looking at the diet choices of nesting farmland birds. This included pitfall trapping and invertebrate identification, DNA extraction and amplification, and fieldwork locating bird nests and collecting faecal samples from chicks. Additionally, external volunteer work involved screening turtle dove blood samples for parasites through PCR, and investigating diet through PCR of faecal samples. I have continuously trained and co-ordinated other assistants and volunteers in lab and fieldwork, through my time as a research associate and as a PhD student, planning day-to-day tasks for myself and others.I am also currently a C-permit ringer for the BTO, ringing with Gower Ringing Group since August 2017.
