Interested in a career in Clinical Psychology / different areas of therapy. I have experience working with children, teenagers and adults with learning difficulties and autism in a charity setting. I worked as a sessional, supporting the service users within our sessions with expanding horizons, communication, assisting with personal care and other needs. After a year of doing this I was promoted to Group Leader, where I gained more responsibilities including planning activities, leading a team of staff, delivering sessions, de-escalating challenging behaviour, supporting medical needs and emergency situations and training new sessional staff. I also did some work as a support worker in a supported living house for people with transitioning from mental health settings / prison back to independent living. I supported medication needs, encouraging clients to plan therapies and positive activities into their weeks and being a supportive listener within the homes. I have training in first aid, epilepsy awareness and management, intensive interaction, hoisting service users, dealing with challenging behaviour and autism awareness. I completed multiple short online courses on a range of topics including dementia; understanding autism; nature and nurture; lifestyle/mind and food/mood. I am an active advocate for mental health; well-being and psychology via social media platforms including breaking down stereotypes and asking for donations on behalf of charities.
