Woven Wind seeks to bring renewable energy systems (in the form of wind turbines) to various communities and partners with elementary/ middle schools to make this happen. During each of our partnerships, we work to design and provide the partnered school with a functional wind turbine as well as work to teach the school's students about renewable energy. As a member of the structural subteam, I work to complete the various dimension calculations for the wind turbine's structure, to ensure that it is as efficient and compact as possible, making the wind turbine as optimal as possible. On Woven Wind, I have worked as a member of the structural subteam as well as lead the structural subteam from 2023-2024. During the last academic year (2023-2024), Woven Wind completed the manufacturing of our wind turbine and installed it on the roof of the University of Michigan's Wilson Center. As structural lead, I facilitated the design and manufacturing of the base of the turbine alongside the rest of the structural team, while also organizing roof training for Woven Wind, to ensure a smooth installation process upon the completion of our manufacturing process. We then capped off our work this academic year with a critical design review of each subsystem of the newly installed wind turbine. I am currently working as the social lead on Woven Wind, facilitating the running of team bonding events, recruiting for the organization and the organization's social media page.
