MBN is an Arabic-language news organization with a weekly audience of more than 33 million people in 22 countries in the Middle East and North Africa, countries Freedom House deemed “not free” or “partly free” in 2016. CSCC is a pioneering U.S. interagency operation created by White House Executive Order to coordinate, orient, and inform government-wide public communications activities directed at audiences abroad and targeted against violent extremists, especially Al-Qaida and its affiliates and adherents. CSCC has been a worldwide leader in using social media effectively against violent extremism and finding creative ways to create communications networks of interest to counter Al-Qaida propaganda.

Worked closely with government and the private sector to promote US business, safeguard $15 billion in direct US investments, promote good governance and human rights, and strengthen bilateral efforts at maritime security in the strategic Gulf of Guinea.

Chief of Mission (acting ambassador) of the US Embassy in Sudan and its branches in Darfur and in South Sudan. Oversaw all USG diplomatic operations in country and 100 American employees and 500 local staff, including the largest USAID program in Africa. Worked closely with United Nations and other international organizations to provide relief to the people of Darfur and ensure the full implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Accord (CPA) which ended 50 years of war between Khartoum and South Sudanese.

Supported USG public diplomacy operations at 18 embassies and consulates in the State Department's Near East Bureau (NEA); bureau spokesman on Arabic language and other regional media. As NEA spokesman for Arab media, carried out over 400 interviews in Arabic, including live programs on pan-Arab satellite stations such as Al-Arabiyya, Al-Jazeera, BBC Arabic Radio, and many others.
