Additionally, I worked on a student discovery seminar focused on our comics and cartoon-related materials; for this project I researched our relevant collections, pulled archival materials, presented at the seminar, and created a handout encouraging further research

For this position I researched records management and data cleanup practices and used Northern Storage software to identify unnecessary and outdated files on the shared drive. Overall, I organized over 600,000 files that were generated by Northern Storage in departmental Excel reports. I presented these Excel reports to Department Record Coordinators (DRCs) and demonstrated how to use them when determining what files would be retained or deleted. Lastly, I kept record of all the work done by the DRCs in my master Excel report and drafted suggested policies and procedures for future shared drive use.

Densho: The Japanese American Legacy Project

While at Densho I scanned archival materials and used Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat to prep images for Densho’s digital archive, created metadata for archival materials and created htm transcripts, and incorporated Densho’s thesaurus terms into their encyclopedia. This was an amazing internship in which I learned how a community archive functions and learned a great deal about Japanese American history in the Pacific Northwest and the United States as a whole.

This was an internship in which I organized, renamed, and input metadata for over 16,000 digital photos in the Communications department’s digital photo collection. For this position I researched cataloguing software and digital photo organizational practices, interviewed Port employees, created a new organizational structure for the digital photo drive, created policies and procedures for digital photo storage, and led a workshop training staff members to navigate the new organizational system.

For this position I performed tasks such as scanning materials for the digital collection, respond to research questions from members of the campus or local community, make inventories of historical materials, create spreadsheets, accession new items, and maintain the archives workspace. I also performed extra projects for the library director such as creating library displays, finding historical images for campus publicity projects, and creating a promotional video featuring the University Archives.
