As an intern on CrowdStrike's data science team, I performed in-depth analyses of the feature sets of the production anti-virus models at CrowdStrike and recommended features to remove and to engineer. I ran various experiments to measure the how changes to the feature set affect performance, including ranking features and measuring marginal performance improvements, measuring correlations, and recommending feature categories to remove. I also designed a method to determine when models used at CrowdStrike are finished training based on number of features used by the model so far, as opposed to more expensive evaluation error.

As a data term intern, I engineered features to allow machine recognition and classification of certain basketball events (e.g. give-and-go) and trained the model currently on the product. I implemented the general probability model to model probabilistic events, which I utilized to train the expected (soccer) goals model currently used on the coaching product. I also trained a model to identify backline players in soccer in every frame, which I used to predict the probability of certain build-up plays.

As a SURF student at NASA's JPL, I trained a convolutional neural network (CNN) to detect and classify objects in grayscale video. The system will allow for the detection of relevant objects (ships, potential threats, etc.) at sea and allow the U.S. Navy to enhance autonomous navigation. I worked on cleaning up the data set labels, by creating a tool to manually annotate images. I tuned the CNN parameters using the latest results from training CNN's with sparse data where I removed certain layers, improving classification performance.
