Completed a 12-week intensive, all-encompassing data science course with General Assembly.Capstone project:Can we effectively inform agricultural policy through a better classification of global north and global south countries?- Tested the hypothesis that countries can be classified based on other proxy indicators of agricultural success, such as fertiliser consumption, population, and the carbon footprint of a countries agricultural sector. - Key outcomes: I managed to build a model that accurately classifies whether a country is exporting food or importing food based on these key characteristics mentioned above- Utilised Logistic Regression, K Nearest Neighbours, Bagging, and Random Forest Classifiers to build a model that accurately predicts the food status of a country. I subsequently analysed the ROC and AUC curves to gauge the strength of the model that was created. This model can further be used to more effectively target agricultural policies as it relates to carbon emissions globally. Ames Housing Data:- Ran regression and classification models on the Ames housing dataset (available on Kaggle) to predict housing prices as part of our individual course project (timeframe: 2 weeks).- Examined and analysed the residuals based on my best models to break down the differences in housing prices, explained by fixed characteristics versus unfixed characteristics as well as any ‘abnormal’ sales masquerading as outliers.Web Scraping Data Science Job Postings:- Project designed to scrape indeed.com to analyse what features predict salaries in the United States, Canada, The United Kingdom, and India.- Ran classification models (LinearRegression, RandomForest, DecisionTree, BaggingClassifier and KNearestNeighbors) on the data to analyse the feature importance within my dataset and create the ROC and AUC curves for the models, to understand how well our model can predict the correct classes as well as how often.

This role had two parts the first of which was the Jumpstart program. Jumpstart is a program aimed at students that are either Canadian citizens or International students who completed their high school degree outside of Canada with more emphasis on the latter of the two groups. The second half involved showing incoming students around the University and providing them with tools for their first semester at UBC to make sure they were aware of all the resources provided to them by the University.Responsibilities included:Serving as a Resident Advisor for a two week period within residence for a group of 60 students where I alongside two other people conducted walk throughs of the residences in the evening to check up on the various residents.Being an initial point of contact for a group of 30 international students starting a degree in the Faculty of Sciences at UBC by serving as both an academic and social counselor for the first two weeks that these students were at the University of British Columbia.Being a catalyst for both a social immersion and academic responsibility as many of the incoming students were starting a new life away from both family and friends here in Canada and the jump to being able to successfully perform at the academic level that is required by an institution such as UBC.
