M/s HRRL intends to transfer high pour point and high viscous crude oil (Mangala crude oil) through about 75KM long heat traced crude oil pipeline from the Mangala processing terminal (MPT) of M/s Vedanta (CAIRN) to their Rajasthan refinery (RR). 25% of the crude requirements of the 9 MMTPA Refinery will be supplied by this line. The operating pressure of this line will be 80.6–85.6 Kg/cm2 and the operating temperature will be 65deg. C. There are two 1" tube pipe stitch welded at 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock positions for SECT (skin effect current traced) cables imported from M/s RAYCHEM (nVENT) USA on the 12" pipeline for crude. The line is insulated with 100mm thick PUF (Polyurethane Foam). The SECT cable will heat up the line through the electrical phenomena known as the Skin Effect and Proximity Effect, and maintain it at 65 deg. C temperature (10 deg C above pour point) to avoid freezing of high-density sulfur crude.
