The project aimed at protecting and augmenting livelihoods of the poor and vulnerable tribal populations and specially women. The project focused on strengthening of Gram Sabha as local self governance institution so as to strengthen the capacity of to plan and manage resources, to ensure equitable distribution of funds, and to protect and promote the interests of the poor and vulnerable, paying particular attention to access to resources, information and services.Project enhanced poor people’s livelihoods through a two-track strategy.First, strengthened the resource base. This means improving management of land, water and forest resources on which poor people depend through integrated watershed management and community forest management. Then, stimulated micro-enterprises based on these resources that provided employment and incomes for the rural poor.
