Profile bio

About Amita Chatterjee

I am a first year Master’s student at the Boston University School of Public Health, with double concentrations in Epidemiology & Biostatistics and in Community Assessment, Program Design, Implementation, & Evaluation. With a background in Exercise Science, Disability Studies, and Spanish for Healthcare, I am committed to preventing and managing chronic disease in the United States for all demographics. Particularly, I am passionate about creating inclusive fitness and wellness programs to reduce the disproportionate prevalence of chronic diseases in people with disabilities. My research contributions reflect my innovative thought processes to solve problems with the population at interest. Furthermore, I have been commended for my strong interpersonal skills as I advocated for people with disabilities to be given opportunities in various community settings. Using my knowledge of health promotion, experiences in various healthcare settings, and skills in project management and community engagement, I have successfully designed and implemented two new health intervention programs at the YMCA of Delaware. These programs address modifiable risk factors for chronic disease and social determinants of health to serve a diverse demographic, encompassing high-risk and vulnerable populations. By strategically applying my skills in data analysis, program design and implementation, and project management, I intend on contributing a vital role in addressing public health problems, prompting health equity, and improving the overall wellbeing of communities. My passion for inclusive health and dedication to community wellbeing drives my commitment to make a meaningful impact in the field of public health.
