Key responsibilities included – a) Business development / market creation for transmission network uprate & upgrade, through power systems studies.b) Identify new technologies for business improvement & growth.c) Manage technology partnerships with international partners & create market for same in the region, including for power flow controller (SMARTVALVE-TM), Dynamic line rating device, live line reconductoring, insulated cross arms, among others.d) Support tendering & project teams through design & engineering.

I had joined there as Manager to setup Network Consulting business from the startup phase of Service business unit in South Asia. Last position was Senior Operations Leadership Staff Manager (General Manager). Responsibilities were as detailed below -a) Led a team of ~170 persons with portfolio of 30 MUSD. Team was geographically spread across India including contingent workers for site activities. Service area included India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan & Bangladesh.b) Led Region Service Operations and responsible for execution of all Service jobs including brown field Substation Renovation, Modernization & Extension jobs, Product Field services, Long Term Operation & Maintenance contracts, Transformer Repair at Workshop, Product Spares, Power System Consulting and Technical Training.c) Portfolio included service activities for Gas Insulated Switchgear, Air Insulated Switchgear, Power Transformer, Disconnector products and Substation systems.d) Supported the Sales & Tendering teams in business strategy, business development & offer preparation, costing & reviews.e) Was accountable for EHS performance, timely execution of projects, sales, margin and cash in line with operating plan of the Service business unit.f) Managed Operation processes including contract management, project reviews, operational and Field Service KPIs reporting, drove implementation of FSET (Field Service Execution Tool) and SERVICEMAX in the unit.g) Additional responsibility of leader of Systems – COE (center of excellence) for T&D Service business globally. Supported service units in other regions on Substation Renovation, Modernization & Extension projects.

Joined as Engineer Trainee and left as Manager in the Substation Engineering department. Responsibilities and work experience in BHEL included - a) Complete engineering coordination for substation projects including interface with various groups, approval of documents from customers, interface with suppliers etc.b) Project Engineering including making of drawings, layouts, design calculations, preparation of equipment specifications, technical scrutiny of offers etc. Worked in projects from 33 kV up to 400 kV AC Substations and 200 kV & 500 kV HVDC Systems. c) Preparation of technical offer for HVDC, AC and GIS substation tenders including estimation of quantities and coordination among various groups. Scrutinizing customer specification for technical comments and deviations. d) System Design Studies including Dynamic Overvoltage, Transient Overvoltage, Load Flow and Transient Stability, Breaker Transient Recovery Voltage, Insulation Coordination, Sub-synchronous Resonance Investigation etc., for AC Substations, HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) Transmission Systems, Series and Shunt Compensation (FACTS) Systems. Worked on EMTP, PSCAD / EMTDC, SIMPOW, software.e) Dynamic Performance Study to design control systems for HVDC Systems. f) System commissioning of HVDC project (+200 kV, 200 MW National HVDC Project).
