Vectoring (crosstalk cancellation) sub-system development lead (requirements, SoC validation / bring-up and firmware) for gigabit over copper xDSL CO product line.• Framed system requirements and hardware / software specifications of vectoring sub-system for gigabit over copper SoC, defining a state-of-the-art and versatile product, and meeting customer goals.• Drove cross-functional and geographically diverse team of LSI and FW engineers, to complete pre-tape-out vector subsystem validation on Cadence Palladium® (C in OS less and RTOS framework), enhancing confidence in functionality of chip to meet defined requirements and specifications.• Facilitated development of vectoring ready physical layer firmware code prior to availability of SoC by guiding implementation of vectoring specific components in Linux based firmware C simulator.

Defined and architected vectoring sub-system and data-path for g.fast CO products • Spearheaded transmitter / receiver finite precision data path design, modeling, and analysis for vectored G.fast CO, meeting noise floor and SNR targets for desired 1+ Gbps throughput goals.• Designed and developed bit-accurate Algorithmic C model of precoder / postcoder coefficient compression and reconstruction modules, providing golden vectors for RTL verification.• Investigated advanced vectoring techniques such as selective tone nulling and non-linear precoding for implementation in future products.

Developed crosstalk cancellation algorithms in firmware for VDSL2 and vector-control entity (VCE) chipsets.• Implemented, debugged, and refined control plane and adaptive fixed-point algorithms (in C) for downstream precoding and upstream post cancellation in multicore / multithreaded environment for VDSL2 line card vectoring and NodeScale VCE products, contributing to “Best Broadband Enabler Award” at BBWF 2013.• Studied behavior of large-scale vectored VDSL systems (e.g., 192 lines) and enhanced scope of vectored xDSL, enabling cancellation of crosstalk from legacy lines (not supporting G.vector), further improving system performance and stability, and satisfying WT-249 testing criteria.• Influenced standard development (G.fast, G.hn, G.vector) on vectoring and FEC code choice via extensive simulation (including LDPC decoding) and modeling exercises.

Defined and modeled crosstalk cancellation algorithms, specified hardware requirements for vectoring, and implemented algorithms in firmware for VDSL2 G.vector prototype system.• Devised and modeled self and alien crosstalk noise mitigation algorithms for xDSL systems, demonstrating achievability of predicted near-crosstalk-free rates and impelling prototyping efforts. • Established performance improvement goals for vectoring and exhibited achievements on FPGA prototype, resulting in eventual productization.• Helped define hardware / software specifications for the vectoring processor FPGA prototype and ASIC.

Developed, analyzed, and evaluated advanced techniques for implementation in next generation xDSL products such as:• Frequency-domain impulse-noise detection algorithms for DMT/OFDM, • Peak-to-average power ratio reduction methods in DMT/OFDM systems.• Transmit PSD spectral shaping and power back-off for crosstalk avoidance.• Pattern recognition algorithms to analyze single-ended line testing (SELT) reflectometry data.

Augmented the dual-adaptive importance-sampling technique for estimating probability of error of coded fading channel communications systems and handed over research to lab members.
