About Alex Jordan
I completed both my undergraduate (B.S.E. Chemical Engineering, 2011) and graduate (Ph.D. Macromolecular Science and Engineering, 2016) at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH under the direction of Prof. LaShanda Korley. My dissertation focused on the post-processing treatment of coextruded polymeric matrix/fiber composites to serve as three-dimensional tissue engineering scaffolds. I then did a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Minnesota studying immisicible polymer-polymer interfaces in both the solid and melt states. I am currently an Assistant Professor of Plastics Engineering at the University of Wisconsin - Stout with an Adjunct Research Professorship at the University of Minnesota.
Listed skills include Polymer Chemistry, Polymer Processing, Polymer Characterization, Mechanical Analysis, and 13 others.

Research Assistant/Graduate Student
Examined the effects of forced assembly confinement on the self assembly of SBS triblock copolymers (Kraton and Styroflex specifically), as well as the effect of confining substrates (neutral vs. wetting interface) on the mechanical response of multilayered polymer thin films.In-situ wide angle X-ray diffraction on confined crystallized dielectric multilayer films to elucidate the effects of applied mechanical stress on the crystal structure in polymer films.Currently assisting the development of novel forced assembly techniques.
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Performed synthetic reaction to functionalize polystyrene with thiol-ene groups to enhance polymer-polymer interfacial adhesion after melt processing. Characterized with FT-IR and NMR spectroscopy to confirm success of reaction. Subsequently began an investigation of confinement effects in SBS triblock copolymers that continued into graduate research career.
