I am a PhD anthropologist, former business school professor, and longtime culture and workplace consultant- with OpenWork Agency and before that with SHIFT. As part of that work, I've also written three books and co-written one. My most recent project is ABW:Lab, a loose network of small agencies, independents, and technology providers focused on helping organizations innovate with how they work--where, when, why, and how. The lab views activity-based working (ABW) first as a cultural commitment to employee autonomy and choice, and secondly as a specific set of design solutions. I am constantly in search of 'ways of working' that liberate employees from assumptions and legacy systems that constrain and dehumanize.
