Dr. Amna Basharat is a multifaceted professional, currently serving as the Principal AI Research Engineer at CureMD Healthcare and an Assistant Professor at FAST-NUCES, Islamabad. With a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Georgia, USA, completed under the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship Program, Dr. Basharat's expertise spans artificial intelligence, ontology and knowledge graph engineering, and user experience.In her dual roles, Dr. Basharat bridges academia and industry, driving advancements in technology and healthcare. At CureMD Healthcare, she leads AI research initiatives, while at FAST-NUCES, she heads the IKNEX (Knowledge, Intelligence and Experience) Design & Research Lab, focusing on knowledge-driven intelligent applications and user experience engineering.Dr. Basharat's academic journey is marked by numerous accolades. She completed her MSc in Distributed Information Systems & Computing from Brunel University, West London, on a full scholarship, receiving the AXA Best Dissertation Award. Her BS in Software Engineering from NUST, Pakistan, was awarded the President’s Gold Medal and the PEC National Graduate Engineer of the Year Award.Her PhD research explored the interplay of Human Computation, Crowdsourcing methods, and the semantic web for linked knowledge engineering, resulting in over 30 peer-reviewed publications. She has been honored with the ACM Gold Medal at the SIGCHI conference, along with being a Grace Hopper Scholar and CRA-W Grad Cohort Scholar.Dr. Basharat's current research interests include designing ontologies in digital humanities, cultural heritage, and healthcare.
