Technical Trainee Laboratory Analyst
CurrentDivision: Toronto Water LaboratoryAnalyzed water samples from Ontario and tested for organic (eg. E. coli presence) and inorganic (eg. Phosphate concentration) parameters following the Standard Operating Procedures to ensure the water quality meet the standards set by the Ministry of Environment (MOE). Some of my protocols include:-Record temperatures of water baths, freezers, incubators, etc., and maintain them on a daily basis-Perform Heterotrophic Plate Counts (HPC) on water samples and count the number of colonies grown-Filter water samples to assist in determining the Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC) of water samples-Determined for the presence of E. coli and Total Coliform in water samples using a Colilert reagent -Analyzed for E. coli and Total Coliform growth following filtration of drinking and waste water samples-Used LIMS database to create batches and update results following analysis-Proficient using the autoclave to sterilize laboratory equipment and waste prior to disposal-Skilled at using aseptic technique when handling microorganisms-Analyzed samples for orthophosphate (PO₄³⁻) using pillow powders and updated results on LIMS
