I have experience advising middle-market companies, governmental entities, and nonprofit corporations. I provide counsel for corporate transactions; employment issues; regulatory compliance; dispute resolution; and corporate strategy.As corporate/transactional counsel, I manage acquisitions; financing; insurance coverage; intellectual property; restrictive covenants; leasing/real estate; distributor, vendor, and customer agreements; and a variety of other matters.As litigation counsel, I have tried nearly 30 cases to verdict; completed over 50 alternative dispute resolution proceedings; taken and defended countless depositions; and resolved hundreds of disputes. I served for five years as an Adjunct Professor of Appellate Advocacy at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law. I have briefed and argued a substantial number of critical and dispositive motions and litigated approximately 20 appeals. (For some examples of cases litigated, see the Featured section below.)I am admitted to practice in the States of Michigan and Illinois; United States District Courts for the Eastern District of Michigan, Western District of Michigan, Northern District of Illinois (Trial Bar), Central District of Illinois, and Southern District of Indiana; and have been admitted to other federal district courts (Delaware, Florida, Minnesota, Missouri) and state trial courts (Ohio) on a temporary basis. I am also admitted to practice in the United States Courts of Appeals for the Sixth and Seventh Circuits and the Supreme Court of the United States.
