Get it right, and you can stay the course, and usually pick up speed. Whether you're talking to shareholders, staffers, future customers, the press, the general public, or your family and friends, the real and necessary component of any business is a writer who can sit in the middle of the storm and not just keep people informed, but entertained, validated, and occasionally delighted. The past ten years has taught me that no matter what I'm hired to do, my responsibilities inevitably swell to encompass all of the above. I hope it's because I'm reliable and easy to work with. I fear it's because I don't say "no" to more work. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.It's chaotic, it's draining, it's frustrating, and if I'm being completely honest, it's a lot of fun.
