I am eager to fulfill my dream of becoming a teacher in a QRIS Preschool in central Illinois. I have nearly two decades of training and experience working with infants and young children on a personal and professional level. Training: QRIS standards, NAEYC guidelines at UAGC; 2019-2022. Paraprofessional training at Heartland Community College in Normal, IL; June 2004.Praxis ParaPro Assessment in 2001 at Lincolnland Community College in Springfield, IL; August 2004. Autism Spectrum Disorder Professional Development Course presented by Tri-County Special Education and ISU in Pontiac, IL; June-October 2005. I was a Noon Supervisor at Olympia South Elementary School from September 1999-August 2003. I was a Substitute School Secretary at Olympia South Elementary from January 2002 - May 2002. I was a Paraprofessional in the Early Childhood Special Education Classroom from August 2003- May 2006. As a paraprofessional, I worked extensively with children ages 3-5 with physical and intellectual disabilities and disorders. As a classroom paraprofessional, each morning and afternoon, I would get children off of the school bus and bring them into the classroom. I would assist them in hanging their coats and backpacks and taking attendance. I would assist the boys in the restroom as the teacher assisted the girls in the restroom. I led opening exercises and played games with the children until the teacher was ready to begin her lesson. Proficient in formative assessments and observation. I was in charge of all bulletin boards in the classroom and the hallway across from our room. I observed students during play, physical education, and recess. I was in charge of snacktime, set-up, and clean-up of small group stations, copying and lamination, and accompanying students to music and personal therapy sessions. I helped the teacher plan her lessons occasionally and was a substitute when the teacher was absent from school. In most recent years, I have tutored local children in reading and worked from home, providing respite care for children with physical and intellectual disabilities and infants and children in the foster care system.
