My role as Student ambassador has two aspects: Widening participation and Outreach & University Events team. Within widening participation and outreach I work on events with primary school age (7 years) all the way to sixth form students (16-17 years). This role involves communication, problem solving skills and the ability to be adaptable and think on my feet whilst bearing in mind the context of age that I am working with.Working for the events team involves helping with open/offer holder days as well as welcome week. This role involves logistical skills and knowledge of the campus and your courses current module information in order to help answer questions from any new/prospective students and their parents/family

I worked on the University of Nottingham’s Sutton Trust summer school as an ambassador. This involved me using time management and collaboration skills to help show a group of sixth form students what life is like at university as well as assisting research staff in what studying biological/life sciences is like. The role was residential, and therefore involved a safeguarding and welfare aspect to this role to ensure that the students involved were safe and supported.
