BDA is a new non-profit 503 (C) organization in Buckley. We are a part of the Washington Main Street Program, which helps communities revitalize the economy, appearance, the image of downtown's. The program is managed (under contract) by the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation. We have a board made up of 5 members, and a part-time executive director. We have four growing committees to accomplish our mission: *Economic Vitality:Partner with local businesses & provide guidance and support to them. Make downtown appealing for new businesses. Strategically plan for sustainable growth. *Outreach:Intentional engagement with the community in ways that meets needs, & connect to downtown. Establish effective communication processes that serve the community & businesses.*Promotion: Implement a marketing strategy that communicates our values and positions itself as a hub of economic activity for downtown revitalization. *Design: Create an inviting, inclusive environment that celebrates history and culture. Fosters accessibility, and make downtown an experience...not just a place.We cannot do it alone though. Responsible for supervising 11 tribal youth, and co-supervised 20 other youth on the 2 other crews in a variety of projects including riparian enhancement, eradicate invasive & noxious weeds, maintaining roads and ditches, repair & rebuild campsites, and improve wildlife habitat. Our time was spent mostly in the forest learning about Forest engineering, Forestry practices and principles, wildlife habitats and the systems they live in, traditional food networks and their cultural and medicinal significance. Projects entailed educating the importance of preserving MFC lands, and environment. Had to be quick to resolve conflicts in high stress situations. Overseen the safety and transportation of crew.

Consulted statutes, ordinances, contracts, regulations and other sources involving complex subjects and specialized terminology. Summarize information and prepares reports based on analyses of data collected during a specified report period. Prepare legal documents such as leases and conveyance documents. Prepares and maintains data spread sheet for the realty department to show actions pending and processing time for each application. Negotiate leases and right-of-way contracts that involved multiple landowners, oversee and manage lease contracts and renewals. Develop and maintain positive professional relationships with Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of Special Trustee, and Office of Hearing and Appeals. Coordinated and facilitated landowner meetings that included 5-40 people. At times these meetings could get volatile and I was responsible for keeping the meeting on task so that we could accomplish our goals of the meeting.
