Editor in Chief of American Salon magazine

Until this year, The Colorist was a quarterly supplement to Beauty Launchpad. As editor, I managed the editorial and freelance staff, art-directed cover and internal photo shoots, conceived and wrote articles, directed web content and produced email newsletters. Currently, The Colorist is its own stand-alone magazine, and as managing editor I oversee all editorial content, supervise web content and manage email newsletters.

As the executive editor of the No. 1 trade magazine for the professional beauty industry, I conceive, contribute to and direct every page, from origin to shipping. I manage and mentor a staff of editors, writers and interns; research and report breaking trends; art direct photo shoots; select cover images; and continually conceptualize exciting, new ways to engage readers, most notably our 3-D 10th Anniversary Issue. During my tenure, the magazine has experienced meteoric growth ($300K more revenue in 2011 vs. 2010) despite a depressed market. I am currently forming partnerships with various industry-related charities and organizations to further solidify the magazine’s position in the professional beauty world. Additionally, I played a major role in creating new CMS websites for both Beauty Launchpad and The Colorist, I supervise all web content, and have been integral in SEO and growth-marketing efforts. Under my leadership, BeautyLaunchpad.com site traffic has increased more than 500%.

I was quickly promoted to this position, where my main responsibilities included managing editorial staff and ensuring deadlines were met. Additionally, as the then-editor resided out-of-state, I interfaced with management often on her behalf.

I authored and edited columns, met established deadlines and pitched story ideas. I was also responsible for all product requests and tracking submissions.
