As senior communications specialist for Caterpillar’s Electrification + Energy Solutions Team, my responsibilities align to support overall business unit and enterprise objectives. • I collaborate with internal stakeholders and advise on the suitability of approaches for communication efforts. • I track and analyze metrics to ensure the effectiveness of internal communications. I create content for employee communication channels, ensuring that messaging and branding are consistent across all channels. • I develop and distribute communications materials, such as written communications, presentation materials, videos, etc., to deliver key messages.

As communicator for Caterpillar's Resource Industries Sales, Services & Technology Division, I benchmarked best practices inside and outside Caterpillar and modernized division information and news, utilizing the MicroSoft SharePoint platform. I managed creation and distribution of the weekly RISST Report; helped produce division town halls; managed, tracked and reported out on communication metrics; created and curated content for division and segment comms channels; and liaised with the marketing department. I developed and led segment-level campaigns for the 2021 CES and MINExpo events, and division-level campaigns #CoronaCantStopUs and #JargonFreeFriday to recognize employees and increase understanding around services. I also served on a process excellence team, streamlining segment-level communications using Lean standards.

As the facilities communicator, I developed strategic communications to inform and engage employees at three separate locations via a weekly newsletter, direct communications, video messaging and other channels. My work impacted key quality goals including customer satisfaction, continuous improvement and process quality, in support of business objectives.

As marketing communications manager handling research communications, I provided day-to-day support for a discrete portfolio of mission programs, providing counsel and consultation in the development and implementation of communications strategies and tactics. I collaborated with staff across the marketing communications function and enterprise-wide to manage internal client relationships and ensure optimal customer satisfaction by delivering the highest quality work. I delivered all communications plans and tactics on time and on budget and ensured they were aligned with business objectives and integrated across the organization.

As a science writer at the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) national headquarters (formerly in Tucson, Ariz.), I communicated the latest developments in neuromuscular disease research to affected individuals and families throughout the United States. Although I focused mainly on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other motor neuron diseases, I also was responsible for coverage of all the more than 40 diseases in MDA's program.A major portion of my responsibilities included writing research news items for the print and online versions of Quest Magazine and for MDA/ALS Newsmagazine Online. I also wrote research updates, and research and medical features for Quest magazine (print), and other publications for individuals, families, donors, MDA sponsors and staff. In 2010, I envisioned a fun and informative way to share news about the many research grants that MDA awards twice yearly. I designed, implemented and maintained the award-winning feature Grants at a Glance.

I performed and supervised maintenance on avionics systems for KC-135 aircraft. I conducted functional and operational checks on, and aligned, troubleshot and repaired, avionics communication and navigation systems equipment, and associated support and testing equipment to circuit card component level. I documented aircraft inspection, maintenance and status records. I followed technical orders; read schematics and blueprints. I observed safety and security directives.

I fabricated and installed wiring harnesses for avionics systems on Global Express, Challenger and Learjet aircraft at Bombardier Aerospace. I read, interpreted and annotated aircraft blueprints and schematics. I documented and submitted engineering change notifications, aircraft inspection forms and maintenance records.
