As the Marketing & Communications Coordinator at Djirra, I worked alongside a team of dedicated professionals aiming to prevent and address family violence within Aboriginal communities in Victoria. The main focus of this role was to support the implementation of a calendar of corporate and community events as well as deliver the marketing and communication plan. Events supported included the 15 Year Anniversary Gala celebration (550 PAX) NAIDOC Week, as well as awareness campaigns as part of the 16 Days of Activism and Ochre Ribbon Week. Typical duties also included the development of media releases, speech writing, social media campaign development and desktop publishing.

As the Student Communications Officer at Chisholm, I worked with a diverse range of professionals within the Student Services portfolio to support student success. The main focus of the role was to work collaboratively with the wider team to devise and implement engagement strategies to enhance student retention rates. This included the delivery of targeted communication campaigns and on-campus events. In addition, the role maintained various student communication channels, delivering campaigns in line with the student lifecycle.The role involved a high level of development work, to support the set-up, utilisation and ongoing maintenance of communication channels which encompassed campus based digital signage, e-newsletter, student guide, student diary, student email system, student newspaper ‘The Ism’ and noticeboard network.

As the Student Success Pilot Project Officer I was responsible for supporting the implementation of an action research project, based at the Berwick campus - titled the 'Berwick Pilot'. The project aimed to identify factors which contribute to student attrition and compile a report with recommendations for strategies which could be implemented to better support student retention more broadly across all Chisholm campuses. The student cohort was engaged across different research approaches, including: surveys, structured interviews, observational reports, case studies and focus groups. Staff engagement was a key piece of the project, with a community building approach adopted.
