Growing up as a first-generation student I’ve had some hurdles to overcome but they’ve led me to where I am now. After graduating high school I was one of those people who were unsure what they wanted to do after. I ended up attending my local community college where I took classes in what I thought I would be interested in. Eventually, I took up an intro business class where I learned how extensive business is and the different paths one can take with a business degree. Ultimately I found myself taking an accounting class that led me to take another which ended up with me looking into NIU as my accounting teacher graduated from there. Now having transferred to NIU I’m excited to continue expanding my knowledge in business and work towards my accounting degree.
