2Nd Stewardess
I spent a year of my two years abroad working in the Luxury Yacht industry on the Vulcan Fleet – MY Octopus, MY Tatoosh & MY Meduse. It is an industry that demands the highest level of service. We were encouraged to anticipate the needs of our guests well in advance. During my time on board I also gained so much insight into teamwork as you live and work with your crew each and every day. I was employed onboard Meduse for 10 months spending time onboard the other two boats to assist with events or for intensive training. My role as 2nd stewardess saw me assisting the Chief Stewardess with running the interior department. My role included a lead service position for meals including silver service, anticipating our guests needs, beverage preparation and service, detailed cleaning of all guest and crew areas, laundry, provisioning, delegation of duties to interior crew during the Chief's absence, decoration and theming for dinners/events, organising itinerary’s for our guests whilst in port, planning activities for our guests, basic administration duties, watch keeping hours (both in port and on passage), basic deck duties - boat washdown, fender duties.The most important thing above all else that I gained from this position was life experience and cultural diversity. During my time on Meduse we travelled approximately 38,000 nautical miles and saw so much of the world – Europe, Africa, US, South America & South Pacific. It was an experience that shaped me as an employee but also as a person.

As a Restaurant Supervisor at the Chez Pok Restaurant in the Hunter Valley I was responsible for the smooth operation of the restaurant service. My main responsibilities included table service, customer service, guest liaison, delegation of duties, supervision of employees, end of service administration and financial management.With my Function Supervisor role I was predominately responsible for ensuring the functions ran efficiently and to the prearranged plan.
