Since graduating with my bachelor's degree in Psychology in Spring 2023, I have had the privilege to work directly with the San Fernando Valley community and help low-income families create a better future. We aimed to help families with small children improve their well-being by providing resources, community meetings, resource fairs, and workshops. We worked closely with local organizations and agencies, such as LAPD, schools, and more, to ensure that families receive the necessary aid. As the Program Assistant, I utilized various skills as I was involved in different areas that helped the program succeed, such as managing finances, databases, community member calls, programming events, and much more. This has allowed me to learn about the different steps involved in ensuring a program functions correctly and efficiently. In addition, I also carry the leadership skills that I received through my involvement in clubs and organizations on campus from my leadership positions, including President of the Psychology Club, Student Government Association, and more! I worked closely with psychology faculty on research projects regarding adverse childhood experiences, which were presented at WPA, SSEA, and SRA conferences. My involvement on campus has reassured my belief that I love helping and working with others to achieve their goals and succeed. I aspire to receive a PsyD in clinical psychology to work with diverse populations and advocate for policy change to better aid communities in need. In my future career as a mental health clinician, I want to work with adolescents, adults, and older adults in low-income communities to provide services that would better their overall well-being.
