I’m Amy, I am a proud Accredited Mental Health Social Worker. I have been working and volunteering in communities for over 12 years. I’ve had a range of roles in areas such as youth work, community mental health, gender based violence, group work, learning and development, drug and alcohol, leadership, management, counselling, crisis intervention, homelessness and private practice. I currently work as a Mental Health Clinician at Centre Self Collective, delivering individual therapy and group therapy. I am passionate about supporting people to develop a sense of self and a meaningful life. I work alongside people with a thoughtful and empowering style to help people understand the challenges they are facing in the context of their life, and seek to strengthen emotional, social and mental health. I believe that therapy can offer a wonderful platform for self-discovery and personal growth. As a social worker, I am committed to assisting people from a social model of health lens. With this lens in mind, I am committed to making efforts to be aware of my privilege and continue to listen and learn from all voices and marginalised groups.I strive to be non-judgmental and holistic in my approach, and utilise a person centred, trauma informed and strengths-based frameworks. I draw upon a range of techniques and interventions that are tailored for a person. Throughout my career, I have been drawn to the following modalities - Mindfulness, Schema Therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Internal Family Systems frameworks. I have a particular interest in supporting client’s experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, personality disorders, coping with stress, family violence and supporting people through adjustment issues.I train, supervise and educate Social Work students on placement and run programs for future therapists. In addition to this, I am available for consultation.
