As a current member of Strauss Troy's litigation practice group, my practice has concentrated on complex civil litigation, including consumer class actions and shareholder derivative actions, and representation of clients in general business and commercial disputes across a wide variety of industries involving breach of contract claims and business torts. I have experience in matters involving, but not limited to, real estate and construction industry disputes, federal and state securities laws, personal injury claims, trade secrets, partnership disputes, the banking industry, and insurance coverage. As a result, I have developed an expertise in recognizing potential liability and compliance risks for clients. Some of the desired outcomes I have achieved include: * Unanimous reversal of a $75 million judgment against a Cincinnati real estate developer in a breach of contract case filed by a national bank;* Defended a commercial supplier and successfully obtained dismissal of claims for breach of contract, fraud, tortious interference, unfair competition, and misappropriation of trade secrets; * Defended large multistate home builder and successfully excluded expert testimony in real estate and construction disputes;* Successfully settled nationwide and multi-state class actions asserting claims against several life insurance companies arising from retained assert accounts issued to beneficiaries; and * Successfully defeated dismissal motions in a shareholder derivative action against a network of long-term acute care hospitals that resulted in settlement of the derivative claims. Prior to joining Strauss Troy, I practiced with a nationally-recognized law firm, Parry, Deering, Futscher & Sparks P.S.C., that focused its practice on class actions on national, multi-state, and statewide levels primarily against large life and property & casualty insurance carriers involving unfair business practices, false and deceptive advertising, and improper sales and claims handling practices. I am an experienced brief writer at both the trial and appellate levels, including the Ohio and Kentucky supreme courts, and specialize in making concise and compelling arguments in matters involving complex legal questions and multifaceted facts. I hold a J.D. (cum laude) from Northern Kentucky University Salmon P. Chase College of Law and a B.S. in political science (summa cum laude) from Northern Kentucky University. I am licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio and the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
