Working as part of the Sustainability Team, I help drive a programme of continuous improvement, reducing our contribution to the climate emergency and impact on the environment whilst simultaneously making our healthcare services more sustainable for future generations.Under the strategic direction of the Waste Manager, I take a lead role in the implementation of operational waste management activities across the Trust, assisting in the development and implementation of projects and system improvements and working closely with functional leads and specialist advisors to support the Waste Hierarchy improvements of the Trust’s estate.

My role involved managing energy, waste, water, wider sustainability and carbon emissions throughout the Trust estate and that of our partner sites. I have significant experience designing and implementing initiatives that have engaged large numbers of staff at all levels in sustainability.

Assist in the management of waste, energy, water, and carbon emissions throughout the Trust estate to reduce usage/production, cost savings and an improved patient experience.

The main focuses of my role were the development of a University wide Environmental Management System and increasing staff and student engagement in sustainability initiatives. My main achievements have been the development of the EMS to achieve EcoCampus silver level and the successful organisation of a week of events for the University’s first ‘Go Green Week’.
