The Avalon Academy is a model school that provides multi-sensory and interdisciplinary curriculum for students (ages 5-22) with movement disorders, such as Cerebral Palsy.Responsibilities include:Conducting comprehensive Augmentative and Alternative Communication assessmentsDeveloping individualized Treatment PlansProviding multisensory therapy for students with complex communication needs

*Identify problems related to employment, educational opportunities, and the removal of architectural barriers.*Identify problems related to the needs of the disabled at UC Davis; to assist in the evaluation of these needs and to recommend action in response to these identified needs.*Serve in a forum for UC Davis groups in matters related to disability and share the issues under consideration with constituent organizations.

*Trained in providing two types of memory therapy: semantic and traditional*Provided memory therapy twice a week to patients who suffered from a variety of traumatic brain injuries.

*Provided 1:1 aide for a child with severe developmental delays*Assisted the teacher in classroom activities

*Researched early intervention methods for children with Autism and ADHD*Administered test measures and parent interviews that cover sensitive issues*Independently coded observational data*Recruited and retained over 160 participants*Communicated with lab members and participants to create schedules without conflict

*Observed and assist a Speech-Language Pathologist with a preschool-6th grade caseload*Worked with children in small groups on speech and language goals with supervision *Gained knowledge and experience in assessment and therapy with a diverse caseload including language, speech, voice, social language/pragmatics, fluency, swallowing/dysphagia, and auditory processing and memory.

*Emceed, planned, and managed Respite event logistics attended by over 50 people*Led and delegated responsibilities to a 4-member lead team and managed a $1000 budget*Worked together with the lead team to recruit over 30 volunteers and create a training program*Managed child care programs and created support groups for parents *Was the first line of contact for volunteers and parents who had questions or issues*Resolved conflicts between preschool teachers and parents*Mentored an individual who would take my place when I left for College
