A doctoral candidate of Human Development and Family Science at Oklahoma State University, leveraging an interdisciplinary background to drive positive change in healthcare policy and LGBTQIA+ health advocacy. With a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master of Science in Human Development and Family Science, Amy's research interests unite her expertise in medical science with her graduate work in social science.Amy's research focuses on LGBTQIA+ health and social development, with a commitment to advancing healthcare equity for traditionally marginalized populations, including the queer, neurodiverse, and disabled communities. She actively advocates for the translation of research into evidence-based policy at both state and national levels.As a 2023-2024 Albert Schweitzer Fellow, Amy spearheaded the creation and implementation of the evidence-based program, TRANSformation for Family Growth and Connection, aimed at providing education and support for families of gender diverse adolescents. Recognized for her dedication, Amy received the 2023 Oklahoma Public Health Association (OPHA) Health Education and Promotion Section Outstanding Graduate Student Award.Outside academia, Amy serves as the president of PFLAG Tulsa, serves on the City of Tulsa LGBTQIA+ committee, chairs the OPHA Health Equity Caucus, and is a member of the OPHA policy committee. Complementing her professional pursuits, Amy finds joy in gardening, hiking, tending her chickens, and being a visible queer presence in Oklahoma.
