As the Interim Chief Executive Officer for the National Youth Leadership Council I provide leadership and vision to a national nonprofit leader in the field of service-learning that helps it meet its mission through quality programs, professional development, national convenings, and youth-adult partnerships.

As the Chief Operating Officer for the National Youth Leadership Council I report to the CEO and provide the overall strategic and operational leadership to the organization. I lead the strategic planning process and implement new programmatic strategic initiatives. In addition, I provide coordination for the senior management team; serve as liaison to partners; and work with the Board of Directors to keep them abreast of programmatic strategies and challenges.In partnership with senior management, I am responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the operational aspects of the annual budget including the cultivation of new and existing funders.

As the Chief Marketing Officer at NYLC, I am responsible for promoting the organization’s brand to national service, youth development, and education agencies. I work closely with the CEO and program leaders to develop the brand message and manage the execution of marketing activities aimed at advancing the organization’s mission. Some of my key contributions include: participating as a decision-maker at the senior level for the organization; building and managing relationships with leading organizations in the fields of service-learning, national service, education, and youth development, and facilitating partnership opportunities; working closely with the CEO to develop the organization’s brand message and story; developing and implementing content-based marketing strategies that promote organization’s development initiatives; leading the organization’s marketing strategy and transition onto appropriate digital marketing and social media platforms; and directing the organization’s marketing team and managing the annual budget.

As the Director for Marketing and Communications for NYLC, I direct all strategic communications for the organization, including marketing, events, and public relations, using all relevant channels. My responsibilities include positioning NYLC voice and branding, executing strategies to accomplish department goals and deliverables, supervise the development of communications and events across all departments, manage media relations, and publication sales. Other responsibilities include the supervision and hiring of 4 full-time staff, and 1 temporary staff. Relationship management with national service, education, and youth organizations. Participation as a member of the Leadership team for the organization that develops strategies and organizational plans and then oversees the implementation and execution. My key contributions include: *build and manage relationships with leading organizations in the fields of service-learning, national service, education, and youth development, and oversee their participation in events as well as facilitating partnership opportunities. *set vision and language for organizational branding. * develop and execute the organizational marketing plan. *direct National Conference, summer camp, and other events. *secure world-renown speakers. *integrate new technologies and channels into the marketing mix including building event websites, writing and editing electronic newsletters, and using social networks (Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube).*manage a staff of 5.*recruit and coordinate hundreds of volunteers. *participate as a decision-maker at the senior level for the organization.

Direct the annual National Service-Learning Conference and other events and tranings within the organization. The conference is a $1.4 million event that draws approximately 2,500 attendees from all 50 States and 41 other countries. Areas of responsibilities include the management and development of budgets, goals and objectives, marketing and sponsorship activities, publications, communications and event production including 3 general sessions, exhibit hall, bookstore, off-site projects and special evening events. Responsibilites also include the supervision and hiring of 2 full time staff, 1 temporary staff, conference management team and Board committee along with relationship management with national service and youth organizations.Work with National partners and speakers bureaus to secure world-renown speakers such as, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Dr. Pedro Noguera, Dr. Jane Goodall, and President Bill Clinton. Manage relationships with leading organizations in the field of service and oversee their participation in the conference as well as all areas of the organization. Evaluate all vendor contracts and relationships to quickly eliminate budget waste and poor performance issues. Manage development of conference website and registration system, providing a clean and user-friendly system for attendees. Obtain and analyze meeting participation feedback, focusing on ways to continually enhance future conferences. Enhance sponsorship program to bring in new partners for conference and increase quality for participants.

Coordinated, planned and oversaw the execution of events for The St. Paul Companies including executive meetings, business unit meetings, customer events, industry tradeshows and seminars with a combined budget of over $3 million. Accomplished client’s goals and objectives within budget, including the reporting of cost-saving measures.Centralized the tradeshow management function within The St. Paul (which had been dispersed throughout the organization) into one unit, providing for enhanced efficiency and cost savings.Managed all St. Paul business unit tradeshows including $1 million budget, sponsorships and promotional items.
