I am currently working as a research assistant for The Marine Life Information Network (MarLIN). I conduct Rapid Evidence Assessments (REA) and Sensitivity Assessments for various taxonomic groups to evaluate the impacts of diverse environmental pressures. Specifically, I have focused on the effects of contaminants, climate change, and invasive species. A significant aspect of my role involved conducting thorough literature reviews, utilizing platforms such as Web of Science, Google Scholar and ECOTOX to extract relevant data and evidence. Subsequently, I compiled these findings into comprehensive written reviews, ensuring thoroughness and accuracy through conducting quality assurance checks. Furthermore, my responsibilities extended to enhancing and updating the MarLIN website by utilizing content management systems (CMS), thereby refining my website editing skills and written communication. Furthermore, I undertook the creation of species fact sheets for the GB Non-native Species Secretariat (GBNNSS), employing the same literature review process to provide concise and informative resources for various stakeholders.

I worked as a Marine Policy Intern during the final year of my degree. I played a pivotal role in various aspects of marine policy development and implementation. My responsibilities included crafting responses to government consultations such as the Joint Fisheries Statement and the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (Part 3), which enhanced my knowledge and honed my written communication skills. Collaborating closely with the principal consultant, I engaged in evidence work for government agencies, notably contributing to two commissioned reports for Natural England where I am recognized as a co-author. Additionally, I helped to edit and update the policy webpage on the Marine Biological Association (MBA) website in preparation for its relaunch, gaining valuable expertise in website design. My involvement as an intern extended to scientific input on projects like the INSITE project, and participation in international meetings such as those for the UN Ocean Decade. My focus on international policy led me to work closely with the World Association of Marine Stations (WAMS), where I not only joined the committee but also led efforts to launch the World Atlas of Marine Stations, and liaised with a range of stakeholders worldwide. Utilizing my experience, I took on a leadership role by training new interns, showcasing my ability to mentor and inspire others within the field of marine policy and conservation.
