I have more than 15 years' experience as a policy researcher focusing on juvenile and criminal justice, human trafficking, and collaborative justice and have authored numerous articles, reports, and a book chapter. I've served on statewide task forces related to these issues, and am currently an advisor to an international survey of more than 20 human trafficking responder groups. In addition to my research, I spent many years as an adjunct professor and was named one of the top 25 forensic psychology professors nationwide. I am an alumna of Emerge California and have been an elected district delegate to the California Democratic Party since 2011. In 2014 I was elected to serve as a Trustee on the Board of Directors of San Francisco City College. I work with various organizations in trying to get more women elected to office and striving for comprehensive women's rights, civil rights, and human rights. I created www.parentinginpolitics.com as a resource for moms--and dads--to balance parenting with public service in an effort to get more mothers of young children elected to office. I was also a founding member of Vaccinate California, which sponsored and lobbied for SB 277, mandating vaccines in schools. Most recently, I founded Justice Bakes, which hosts bake sale fundraisers for abortion rights.I grew up in Philadelphia and have lived in Mulhouse, France, and Mexico City and have traveled extensively around the world. I competed in a monthly cupcake baking competition and love creative baking.
