Strategic leadership of communications and membership at NSUN. I hold responsibility for the charity’s communications across the spectrum of disciplines, including digital comms (social media, website, email), the production of resources and materials, events, and media/press. As a member of the senior management team, I work closely with the CEO to provide support across all operational areas, including legal compliance, policies and procedures, HR and staffing, internal communications, and systems. My remit also includes leading work on the membership offer and projects, as well as fundraising.

I am a member of the Board of Trustees for Self-injury Support, a charity focussed on improving support and knowledge around self-injury.

I was appointed as a member of the Student Advisory Committee for Student Minds for two consecutive years. The Committee advises the charity on strategic decisions, programmes, projects, and policies, as well as helping inform methods and approaches to engage students in their work.

I worked on the Helpdesk at Leeds University Union, one of the largest and consistently best rated student unions in the country. My role was first port of call support for students, staff, contractors and visitors wishing to connect with the Union. My highly varied duties include student support such as dealing with student, staff and external queries (email, phone and face-to-face), giving directions and making referrals to the Student Advice Team, administrative activities such as room booking services and Helpdesk telephone operation, and a range of other tasks such as giving tours, managing/maintaining the Foyer space, coordinating activities and workshops, and handling Union post. I then moved on to work in the Student Advice Centre, providing informational assistance and advice on issues such as housing, finance and academic matters in person and over the phone/email, and managing the Advisors’ appointment system.

I was awarded a Dean’s Vacation Research Scheme Scholarship to undertake a full time two-month lab internship researching host-parasitoid interactions in the Ecology labs in the Faculty of Biological Sciences at the University of Leeds.I managed a life history assay to understand the influence of changing environmental treatments on host-parasitoid trophic interactions between the wasp, Venturia canescens, and two species of moth, Plodia interpunctella and Ephestia kuehniella: "Effects of an increasing mean temperature with or without daily fluctuations around the mean on juvenile stage duration in two host species and on the cost of host switching in a parasitoid wasp species".

I undertook this on-campus internship as my year in industry between my second and final years of my degree. Based in the Graduate School Office in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Leeds, I led a project investigating and enhancing the postgraduate PhD researcher experience across the faculties of Engineering, Maths and Physical Sciences, and Environment, which together represent 44% of the University's postgraduate researcher (PGR) population. The aim was to provide a better understanding of the current PGR experience in the three faculties, using tools such as PRES (Postgraduate Researcher Survey) results and my own research (surveys, focus groups and other administrative analysis). My research contributed to short and long term intra- and cross-faculty initiatives in three key areas - PGR support, wellbeing, and social research culture. The project involved working with a range of teams across the institution, such as colleagues in Student Education Services, Leeds University Union, Organisational Development & Professional Learning, and the newly-established Leeds Doctoral College.I was nominated for the University's Partnership Award for my work.
