The P&G site in Newbridge was acquired by Mapaex Health & Personal Care Ltd. I began working with Mapaex within a process engineering capacity and my scope has been expanded to include major projects in capacity expansion and process development.

Following my experience in Packing Operations I then took over full responsibility for the Floss Operations Department, supplying Dental Floss globally and managing a team of over 20 technicians, which includes production of dental floss and mixing & application of chemical coatings. The technologies include extrusion, winding, fluidized beds, vacuum mixing vessels, portable mixing vessels, CIP systems and more. I have complete ownership of Safety, Quality and Operation of these systems and manage the maintenance team to ensure all equipment is operating at target. I am also responsible for the department budgets including M&R, Overtime & Productivity. I have lead the team through a volatile 1.5 year transition of company ownership following the acquisition of the plant by Mapaex Ireland, and rolled out new systems and processes. As part of this transition I also helped the HR department in developing and streamlining a new payroll process, in addition to my regular duties.

I stepped into the Packing Operations Line Leader role in January 2020, leading a department of 6 Premium Packing Lines - directly responsible for the Promotional Pack Lines (200+ SKUs). Led a team built on strong foundations with a breakthrough focus on culture and cost reduction. Coached 13 direct reports (including all technical resources for department) through Know & Grow cycle creating individualised development plans with strong focus on capability building to deliver top loss elimination. Ensured successful start up of automation and productivity projects in department & identified further improvement areas. Ensured business continuity during volatile Covid-19 pandemic managing to still deliver the business during this crisis.

I joined P&G as a graduate in August 2018 and was given real responsibility from day 1 as a Process Engineer for the Stapled Brush Department at the Newbridge manufacturing site. Directly responsible for the performance and reliability of a department of integrated Moulding/Brushmaking/Packing Cells, leading a team of technicians across shifts to develop capability and guide Root Cause Analysis, Loss Elimination using IWS tools and Autonomous and Predictive Maintenance strategies. I also identified key departmental improvement areas and led several Safety, Quality, Productivity & Cost Saving projects, qualifying in Global Start Up Management, Validation and executing each project with Vertical Start Up. I met all key deliverables while fostering a culture where everyone feels valued, included and able to perform at their peak.

Completed my Masters thesis project as part of the Erasmus+ programme: ‘A study of the impact of axial dispersion in straight and wavy microreactors’. This was a Matlab based project which involved modelling chemical microreactors to understand the extent of the impact of axial dispersion on reactor performance.

I assisted in day-to-day operations of the Horlicks plant whilst also being responsible for various ongoing continuous improvement projects to improve performance and capacity of the plant, such as dryer optimisation and waste minimisation. I gained experience in problem solving by undertaking several root cause analysis investigations and completed various corrective and preventative actions as a result.

Working for KnowHow as part of the Dixons Carphone group was a challenging job in a fast paced environment. My main responsibilities included dealing with irate and upset customers and escalating any issues to the first line manager. Communication and interpersonal skills were essential to prioritise and resolve issues as they arose.
