Keeping the Nation safe from Environmentally Insensitive Cell TowersI began my time at Trileaf as a field engineer, conducting site reconnaissance and soil/groundwater sampling. I worked my way through Staff Scientist, writing Phase I & II, NEPA & RBCA reports and assisting with scheduling. At the completion of my tenure at Trileaf, I was the primary point of contact for several wireless communications companies and tower owners. Prioritizing site work of Indoor Air Quality projects, along with Leaking Underground Storage Tank projects and cell tower sites was my wheelhouse. I loved the day to day challenges of getting the right people to the right site visit. Report writing assignments, including tank, cell tower and occasionally Indoor Air Quality was determined by myself and other PMs. Working as part of this leadership team meant reviewing most reports that were output, and writing sample/template reports as necessary.Helping young scientists and engineers find their own specialties and preferences was a very rewarding part of my career. As a leader at a small environmental firm, most staff scientist could be given time in each of the company's arenas, be it tower field work, groundwater monitoring or report writing. Cross-training also allowed an ease of scheduling across disciplines.

There's nothing like an internship to remind a young engineer to be kind to the inexperienced. Duties included gathering of field data, input of data into standardized format and reporting soil compaction data. This pertained to the Pre-construction/Geotechnical side of my studies .There were also my first foray into the environmental side, conducting Phase I ESA site reconnaissance and helping assemble various information sources for the final reports.
