Amy Hovis is an award-winning Garden/Landscape Designer and Principal/Owner of one the most prestigious Landscape Design Firms in central Texas, Eden. She is also the owner of Barton Springs Nursery, a 4-acre design-driven Garden Center/Nursery in central Austin that specializes in native plants. Hovis's work and expertise have been the subject of feature articles in numerous publications including Architectural Digest, Martha Stewart, Southern Living, Living Etc., The Zoe Report, Garden Design, House Beautiful, The Spruce, Real Simple, Better Homes and Gardens, and U.S.A Today. Hovis is a contributing Speaker/Expert in the field of Garden/Landscape Design and Horticulture. She’s been a featured guest in podcasts and webcasts such as NPR’s Cultivating Place, The Horticurati, and Bee The Change by Alveole.Hovis has amassed a body of work that includes design, business, art, film, landscape, and construction. Hovis has extensive experience managing large-scale productions of all kinds from concept to completion, coordinating crews, talent, equipment, materials, locations, and budgets. A common factor in all of Hovis’s work is a personal connection to her clients, crews, and teams founded on trust and mutual respect, leading teams to accomplish the best end results for her projects. Previously, Hovis was the Designer and GC of a wide range of commercial build-outs in Austin: Spruce, an Aveda salon (which repeatedly won Elle Magazine's top 100 salons in America), Beast, a post-production studio (highlighted in Arch Daily), Nada Tech, in which she transformed an old warehouse into a modern, robot design facility. Before her work as a Designer and General Contractor, she was a Producer and Director for many years having founded and owned film production companies in Paris, France (Sina Films), Houston, Texas (FilmArts), and Trenton, New Jersey (SizeFiveFilms). She is the founder of Public Films in Austin, a nonprofit film production company that produces films for other nonprofits. This nonprofit was originally founded in Houston, Texas by her father Michael Hovis. Public Films recently produced another project for Safe Alliance in which she was the producer.
