Worked closely with prime contractor, Boeing, on export compliance.Background: Teledesic was founded in 1990 with the goal of bringing high speed, affordable access to "fiber-like" telecommunication services to all parts of the world. Teledesic was founded by its chairman Craig McCaw. With a $9 billion price tag, it is well supported by major sponsors such as Microsoft Inc, chairman Bill Gates, Boeing, Motorola, and Saudi Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, the Abu jDhabi Investment Company. The commercial failure of the similar Iridium and Globalstar ventures and other systems, along with bankruptcy protection filings, were primary factors in halting the project, and Teledesic officially suspended its satellite construction work on October 1, 2002.
