I serve as the UIC's on-site representative, including serving as the on-site supervisor for contractor personnel and as a liaison with Government personnel responsible for overall contract performance.

Quiet Consulting focuses on listening – on helping organizations with strategic decision making, largely around the use of Web tools to achieve specific communications goals. I do this through research projects, usability consulting, and training. In addition, I provide day-to-day web services such as writing, editing, graphics, content management, and support and management of staff or contractors working on a site.

KaBOOM! is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to vision that there is a great place to play within walking distance of every child in America. Part of their strategy is to make use of web technologies to drive people to real-world action and to build a self-sustaining online community in support of that. As the Director of Online Initiatives, I was responsible for all aspects of the organization’s online presence. This included strategic consulting, recruitment and management of a team of three, management of an existing CMS platform, growing a vibrant online community, redesign and replatform of the kaboom.org web site to include a social network, redesign and replatform of the KaBOOM! PlayspaceFinder (http://playspacefinder.kaboom.org), support of all business units within KaBOOM!, education and development of the entire KaBOOM! staff in ways to make use of social media and web technologies to enhance their jobs, as well as contracting with and managing outside design, usability, and technology vendors. I was in charge of the Design and Production groups for the Web Strategy and Operations division. I managed between 12 and 15 people (staff and temporary help) in that role, in addition to acting as the Design Director for AARP.org. I oversaw one full redesign of this complex site from both a design and production perspective. I was also in charge of managing the ongoing usability testing on the site. I was responsible for the development of external Web sites for Caliber clients and internal Web projects. I coordinated content collection as well as the efficient and attractive presentation of the content, consulted with Caliber staff to determine policies and procedures for ongoing development and maintenance of the sites, supervised up to three e.magination staff on a project-by-project basis, and acted as a liaison between Caliber and e.magination.
