Homeschool environment | Students from ages 8 to 14While my goal was to design and deliver individualized instruction that resulted in significant academic growth, my daily commitment was to create a classroom culture that made learning fun. During my 18-month term with VIA, I had the privilege of working with Elizabeth Haughton, one of the luminaries in the field of Precision Teaching and curriculum design. Beginning with an intense student assessment and curriculum planning session, we created an individualized academic plan and strategy to address each of the children’s learning needs, and conferenced weekly with parents to discuss progress and strategize solutions. ■ Evaluated 100+ books and instructional packages for compatibility with Common Core State Standards, fluency-building and formative assessment, and for ease of use by students and their teachers.■ Trained 2 cohorts of teachers to implement individualized academic plans in a homeschool environment.■ Measured academic baselines, monitored progress, and modified instruction based on progress data.
