Preclinical modeling & simulation

I am studying immune pathway activation dynamics in early Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) infection of macrophages, and am advised by Bree Aldridge at Tufts University and Suzanne Gaudet at DFCI. I use a combination of computational and experimental approaches to dissect the molecular response of macrophages during early tuberculosis (TB) infection. Our long-term goal is to develop a detailed mechanistic understanding of early immune-Mtb interactions at the single-cell level to improve the design of TB interventions.

I completed my Ph.D. advised by David Kaplan at Tufts University in the program of Cell, Molecular, and Developmental Biology investigating the role of ion currents in regeneration and cancer. I demonstrated that over-expression of IK in human breast cancer cells is sufficient to increase in vivo primary tumor growth and metastasis, and also worked with a small team of researchers on a project where we used a bioengineering approach to improve a 3D in vitro model of breast cancer.
