As an Assistant Manager, my main role is to assist the Business Manager with all management tasks. I maintain the running of the store in the absence of the business manager and provide support to and be a leader for the Shift Managers. I am required to be a quick thinker and excellent decision maker in order to ensure the business can run smoothly at all times. I am also responsible for planning training and assisting in recruitment, as well as participating in the recording of sales, forecasts and labour costs. Due to the nature of this job, I am required to be extremely organised in order to ensure the business can operate well, as well as being an upbeat and motivational role model for my staff.

As a Shift Manager, my role is to ensure smooth running of the restaurant and provide excellent customer service at all times. I am in charge of around 40 staff a day, meaning I must stay organised and quick thinking to ensure my staff are happy in their roles. I am trained in conflict resolution, which has been invaluable with being in such a fast paced, customer facing environment. I am responsible for large amounts of cash, and for keeping the store secure at all times. I am fully first aid trained to ensure I can react quickly if either customer or staff needs treatment.

As a crew trainer I was expected to pass on my knowledge to new team members, and also assist in the training of more experienced members when learning new areas. I frequently ran training classes to assist with this in my own time, ensuring that the store had a high level of fully trained staff, making the shift manager's job easier. I was required to use my excellent communication skills and was able to adapt to different situations and people at all times. I thoroughly enjoyed educating the new staff and it was always a pleasure to help them better themselves. I believe I was an excellent role model for team work, being both a leader at times and a team mate.
