In my teaching role, I implemented trauma-informed strategies to support students’ emotional well-being, recognizing the profound impact that trauma can have on learning. I leveraged technology platforms like Google Classroom to enhance instruction, making lessons more engaging and accessible. Additionally, I provided targeted literacy interventions through the Response to Intervention (RTI) framework for struggling readers, aiming to improve their reading skills and overall academic performance.

To promote social-emotional development, I facilitated daily morning and afternoon meetings, created a “calm corner” to support self-regulation, and implemented restorative practices to build a supportive and empathetic classroom community. I designed and delivered engaging English and Social Studies lessons, incorporating interactive activities and cross-curricular connections to enhance student understanding and enthusiasm for learning. Additionally, I strengthened family and student engagement through regular student-parent conferences, fostering collaborative goal-setting and partnerships that boosted student achievement and involvement.

I taught students with disabilities through mainstream inclusion, creating an accessible and supportive learning environment that met diverse needs. I actively participated in collaborative professional learning communities, contributing to shared strategies for student success and instructional improvement. By analyzing student data to inform lesson planning and providing targeted interventions, I ensured all students achieved growth and met their learning goals.

I collaborated with parent volunteers to plan and execute class and school events, fostering a strong sense of community and enhancing support for student learning. By implementing small group instruction and engaging, hands-on center rotations, I promoted deeper thinking and higher levels of understanding in foundational skills among my students. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I adapted to virtual teaching, utilizing digital tools and innovative strategies to maintain student engagement and continue collaborative efforts with colleagues.

To enhance my teaching practices and professional growth, I partnered with veteran teachers to refine instructional strategies, leveraging their expertise. Serving as the grade-level Technology Liaison, I incorporated innovative instructional technology into lessons to engage students and support diverse learning styles. Additionally, I designed and implemented engaging, hands-on lessons using the Schoolwide Enrichment Model-Reading (SEM-R), fostering critical thinking and a love for reading in young learners.
