WaterNow works to advance transformation in the urban water sector to accelerate the widespread adoption of equitable, climate resilient, and environmentally sustainable water management strategies. In this role, I develop, implement, and share resources and learnings from One Water projects, working in partnership with public utilities, municipalities, non-profit organizations, and other community partners. These projects focus on supporting and demonstrating the viability of environmentally sustainable management strategies and solutions, including but not limited to: water use efficiency applications, green stormwater infrastructure, source water/watershed protection programs, reuse technologies, and efforts to assess and enhance water affordability and equity.

The Data-Driven EnviroLab (formerly the Yale Data-Driven Environmental Solutions Group) develops evidence-based policy solutions to environmental challenges, with a particular emphasis on innovative data analytics.• Researched environmental policy questions, with a particular focus on climate change and urban sustainability. Contributing author to 12 policy publications and 9 peer-reviewed academic articles exploring global climate action, urban sustainability, water management, renewable energy and energy efficiency, and citizen science. • Coordinated outreach and media strategy to communicate research findings to public, policy, and academic audiences. Author articles in publications including The Guardian, Scientific American, Foreign Affairs, Grist, and Huffington Post. Coordinated blog and social media content, and represented organization at conferences and other events. • Managed and mentored 19 student research assistants supporting communication, research, and data analysis efforts.• Working closely with the lab director, developed 4 successful grant proposals. Coordinated with project partners and university grant offices to fulfill grant budgeting and reporting requirements. • Project manager for research collaboration, outreach and communication, and conference and event planning activities.

• As part of a four-person team, analyzed the greenhouse gas emissions reduction impact of climate action commitments made at the United Nations New York Climate Summit in September 2014 (analysis published in Nature Climate Change in May 2015). • Conducted research, wrote blog posts and popular media articles, and hosted podcast interviews related to energy and climate policy and the international climate change negotiations.

Portland, Oregon Area

• As part of a two-person field team, assessed the riparian, physical, and biological characteristics of 32 streams, to determine how different restoration and re-vegetation strategies affected ecological recovery. • Using ArcGIS, conducted spatial analysis to accompany the project’s final grant report.

Washington, District Of Columbia, United States

An affiliated council of the American Association of Community Colleges, the Instructional Technology Council represents nearly 400 institutions that offer distance education courses to their students.• Managed registration and supported the organization of an annual 500-attendee conference and 25-person workshop. Implemented a communications campaign that increased conference sponsorships by 28 percent. • Developed and managed distribution of e-mail and print communications to recipient lists of 1000+, to increase membership recruitment and retention. Created an e-mail outreach template that generated updates to approximately 600 member contacts. • Edited and contributed content on online and distance education to quarterly e-newsletter and social media accounts.

• Supported communication and development efforts, coordinating with field teams to update and submit 23 project reports to funding organizations. • Wrote capacity statements and success stories and researched funding opportunities for projects in Darfur, Cameroon, Sudan, Chad, and the Central African Republic.

Crested Butte, Colorado, United States

The Coal Creek Watershed Coalition is a non-advocacy environmental organization that monitors, restores, and engages the community in managing the watersheds surrounding Crested Butte, Colorado. • Helped manage and implement water quality monitoring and restoration projects, including baseline water quality data collection, a watershed-wide habitat assessment, and a pilot study of erosion prevention strategies.• Wrote seven successful grant proposals, raising nearly $200,000, and secured $36,344 of in-kind resources. • Expanded the organization’s presence in the community by coordinating public events, editing and contributing articles to quarterly newsletters, and building relationships with local media. Media coverage rose 25 percent during term of service. • Recruited and supported volunteer participation in water quality monitoring and remediation activities. Volunteer hours increased 140 percent during term of service.

Conducted and helped coordinate outreach to blogs and social networks, to implement a grassroots marketing campaign promoting the paperback release of Listening Is An Act of Love, the inaugural National Day of Listening, and the StoryCorps holiday initiative.

Helped develop a grassroots marketing strategy to publicize several organizational initiatives, creating a database of relevant online social networks and blogs and drafting outreach messages and email templates.

Contributed content to and supported the publication process of in-house magazines Taste, Sea Ray Living, Amped, and Catch, to support Dino’s mission of developing messaging for lifestyle-focused brands.

Researched and wrote articles responding to national, regional, and local environmental policy proposals, and coordinated quarterly newsletter.

Edited and contributed content to the company’s Global Human Resources newsletters, assisted efforts to distribute stock options to all company employees, and supported the Corporate Human Resources Help Desk.
